Over the next forty minutes we are going to write down how you work, and then something is going to start doing part of it.

Step one · The check
First, what you already have.
Before anyone promises you a date, we find out what is actually on your desk. This reads no email, no documents, no contacts and no passwords, and it sends nothing anywhere.
Step two · What connects
Nothing here is a guess.
We already know which route each of these takes, because the check told us. Green is one tap. Amber needs one email to your IT person, already written. Grey has no honest route today, and we would rather say so now than in three weeks.
Nothing is marked connected until it has proved itself: read one real message, or fetch one real appointment. A tick that has not done a round trip is a lie we are not willing to tell you.

The next part is thirty-five questions, and answering them out loud takes about a third as long and gives us far better material. Written answers are performances. Spoken answers are true.

Step four · The interview
When something goes wrong on a job, who finds out first, and how do you tell them?
You can stop at any question and come back tomorrow. It keeps your place. Nobody has to do this in one sitting.

This is you, being written down. You read the whole thing before anything gets built, and if it does not sound like you on a good day, we change it until it does.
The first week
One job. The gate stays shut.
Quote follow-up, and nothing else. It reads, it decides, it writes, and then it stops and waits for you. For seven days it does not send a single thing, on purpose.
On day seven we sit down together, read three of these in full, show you the two it got wrong, and you decide one thing: does it start sending.

Trish, the quote for the two walk-in units went over on the 4th and I have not heard back, which usually means it landed at a bad week rather than a bad number. No rush from my end. If the figure is the problem tell me and I will look at doing the compressors in two stages instead of one. Dale

And two it got wrong.
It chased Maple Ridge Care Home about an invoice you had already agreed to hold until their fiscal year turned. It did not know, because you agreed it on the phone and never wrote it down anywhere it could see.
That is the correct failure. It acted on what it could see and it told you what it could not.
Does it start sending on this one lane. Yes or no. If yes, it is $600 a month at the founding rate and it begins tomorrow morning. If no, you keep the identity file and we shake hands.
